- My Splitly operates as a shared financial log for users. You maintain full control over who views your expenses and what transactions are shared. When an expense is shared, its details become visible to the specified group or individual. All parties associated with an expense or group have the functionality to modify or remove those records. Crucially, expenses recorded on My Splitly are never made public.
- To access My Splitly, an account is required, necessitating basic identification details such as your name, email address and phone number. We utilize this data for essential account management and necessary communications. This information also enables contacts to locate you on the service and allows you to access your account across different devices.
- Beyond registration data, we gather non-identifying technical data, such as your device type and IP address, primarily for service security. We may also track general data regarding the categories of expenses you enter or the groups you establish. This information is processed to enhance the security and performance of our platform and for internal promotional purposes.
- We will not share your personal information with any third parties for their marketing uses. We commit to never sharing your data for any use outside of this statement without your explicit permission. You can manage your preferences through your Account Settings page. - My Splitly and its associated partners maintain operations globally and may process your personal data outside of your home country. - My Splitly is not designed for individuals under the age of 13. If you are a parent and believe your child has submitted personal information without your consent, please contact us immediately at info@mysplitly.com and we will delete the data.

When interacting with My Splitly, we may gather the following information about you:
Mobile App Permissions
When you use the My Splitly mobile application, we may request access to certain device features. These permissions are optional where possible and are used solely for the purposes described below:
- Camera: My Splitly may request access to your device camera to allow you to scan receipts and capture photos of expenses directly within the app. Images captured are used solely for attaching to expense records and are shared only with the individuals or groups you specify.
- Photo Library: We may request access to your device's photo library to allow you to upload existing images as expense receipts or attachments. Photos accessed are used exclusively for the expense records you create and are never shared beyond your designated contacts.
- Contacts: My Splitly may request access to your device contacts to help you quickly find and add friends when creating groups or splitting expenses. Contact data accessed on your device is used only to facilitate friend discovery within the app and is not stored on our servers without your explicit action of adding that contact to a group or expense.
- Push Notifications: We may send push notifications to keep you informed about new expenses added to your groups, settlement requests, payment reminders and other activity related to your account. You can manage or disable notifications at any time from your device's notification settings or from your My Splitly Account Settings.
- Background Activity: The app updates and syncs your expense records while you are actively using it. It does not perform continuous background data fetching when the app is closed. Some updates may occur when you reopen the app to ensure your data is up to date.
Information Submitted by You:
- Registration Information: Signing up requires your name, email address, phone number and a password. The email is mandatory for account communication and cross-device access. Your contacts can find you using your provided email or phone number. You can update this information at any time from your Account Settings page or by emailing info@mysplitly.com.
- User-Generated Records: While using the service, you record details of financial transactions occurring outside the app, including group names, payment descriptions, amounts, receipts and split information. This content is shared exclusively with the contacts you designate. You are solely responsible for selecting who views this information.
Information Collected Automatically or from Others:
- Service Interaction Data: We log how you engage with My Splitly, including features used and the frequency of activities (e.g., when you attach a receipt). This helps us refine and develop new services.
- Information Shared by Others: Other My Splitly users may provide us with your contact details (email/phone) to add you to a group or share an expense, which we store in your account according to your preferences.
- Device and Location Data: We receive details about your device, browser, operating system, and approximate location, which is used for service provision, improvement, security and regulatory compliance.
- Google Accounts: If you link your Google account, you authorize My Splitly to receive basic account details and potentially, contact data (if authorized). This data is used for friend discovery, sending invitations and improving user support.
- Information from Public Sources: We may use publicly available data (name, email, phone) to assist with support, fraud detection, or security verification (e.g., using a vendor to identify your phone carrier).
